Your Quantum Life

By Jude LaClaire, Ph.D.

A recent experience confirmed for me what I have come to believe and practice after much study and life learning. A client was very sad and upset that she was separated by thousands of miles from her much loved dog. The vet had let her know that the dog was not doing well and needed a specific procedure. We spent some time imagining that she was with her, soothing and calming the dog. I encouraged her to send healing thoughts and images.

Later that day she called to tell me she had spoken to the vet, and he told her they did the procedure, and her dog was doing well. He also let her know the dog was so calm and relaxed they did not need to anesthetize the dog for the procedure. She asked when this took place, and learned it was approximately the time she was sending her healing thoughts and images.

I am sure that many of you have had similar experiences of sending or receiving energy, whether with animals or fellow humans. What does this tell us about the nature of life and how we can be more deeply transformative in how we view energy flow?

Much of my paradigm shift began in the 70s when I was exploring holistic approaches to counseling, education, and physical health. My own health issues led me to explore biofeedback, homeopathy, acupuncture, Rolfing, meditation, guided imagery, and dream work. I began to learn about approaches that were based on the principles of the interconnectedness of mind and body, and the self and the environment. I began to learn that the power of what we think, say, or do can change both the inner and outer worlds and the ability to recognize different states of consciousness play a role in healing.

I read Fritjof Capra’s book, The Tao of Physics (1975) with great fascination as he talked about the paradigm shift from the mechanistic and reductionistic Newtonian and Cartesian theories of physics to the more holistic and ecological views of quantum physics. “Quantum theory thus reveals a basic oneness of the universe.”

He noted that, “The scientific view of universe is coming, in essence, to that of the Asian religions.” He more specifically mentions Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. They understood the interconnectedness of all things-- that the ultimate reality is hidden in all things and events. We see quantum physics and other modern sciences substantiating ancient sacred traditions.

Studying Carl Jung’s psychology helped me to see the personal transformational power of embracing this view of life. He described the unexplained and interconnected events happening in harmony for others and us as ‘synchronicity.’ He recognized the recurring patterns of life in art, music, myths, and culture as ‘archetypes.’ He taught us to acknowledge the transcendent function, which goes beyond the sensory process.

In the early 80s, Rupert Sheldrake, a biochemist and author, wrote Morphic Resonance talking about the inherent memory in life, which he observed in animals. He cited examples of dogs, cats, and other animals having what appeared to be telepathic abilities to sense when their owners would return home, would anticipate earthquakes and tsunamis, and could also anticipate seizures or other medical problems with humans.

In his early experiments he asked owners to come home at different times of the day and with different transportation modes, telling no one of their plans. The dogs, cats, and birds would begin their anticipatory behaviors like going to the door, looking out the window, chirping their song, etc. He summarized his studies and over 4,500 reports from others in his 1999 book, Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home! And Other Unexplained Powers of Animals.

These amazing teachers and life explorers help us to understand the interconnection of all life and how we can communicate in ways that go beyond the boundaries of time and space. It empowers us to use the moment in healing ways for ourselves and others. Just as my client could change the life of her dog thousands of miles away, we can change ourselves and our environment by what we think, imagine, and do. Remember and use your powers often!
